The main part of the syllabus is 45 kata in four sections.
But, using a sword is only the beginning. There is also etiquette, history, culture and, of course, cutting.
In which most of the forms are executed from the seiza kneeling position.
Executed from the tate-hize kneeling position.
Or 'core' techniques in which the forms are both seated and standing.
There kata are done with two people to teach distance and timing.
